Paliggagra is one of the activities of mothers looking for fish in small rivers for daily needs, this activity is the same as just catching fish in the river.
In Mentawai itself, especially in South Siberut, Paliggagra was introduced to their daughters at an early age. there is even a tradition for girls that waji performed, that tradition is Abbinen.
The tool used in catching fish is Subba in Mentawai language. A small stalk made by women themselves.
