The Mentawai Islands is the largest rattan producer which reaches 60% of the total production of West Sumatra Rattan, for this reason there is a need for more concrete efforts than various parties to raise the potential of the industry into the regional leading industry. So that it can compete and parallel to the products produced by other rattan industries. Mentawai is also known as the wealth of natural resources that can be processed by the community so that it can increase family income. Rattan crafts from Sido Makmur Village are also used as typical Mentawai souvenirs such as: Oorek, Long, Hoods, Tobat, Leggeu and others.
