Nagari Ulakan, a focal point of religious tourism in West Sumatra, is characterized by the tomb of Sheikh Burhanudin Ulakan, a significant figure in spreading Islam in the Minang region. Leveraging its geographical advantages, Ulakan transformed 15 hectares of dormant land into the Green Talao Park, an eco-friendly destination managed by Nagari Owned Enterprises (BUMNAG) in collaboration with tourism awareness groups (Pokdarwis) and local economic business groups. This initiative, which includes mangrove trekking and unique educational attractions, demonstrates Ulakan’s commitment to sustainable community-based ecotourism.
In addition to the tomb of Sheikh Burhanudin and Green Talao Park, Nagari Ulakan has successfully developed other interconnected destinations, all managed by Nagari Owned Enterprises (BUMNAG).
