Lawang Tourism Village, nestled in Nagari Lawang, Matur District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra, offers a unique blend of natural beauty and cultural richness. Located about 100km from Padang City, Lawang Village sits at an altitude of 1,250 meters, known for its cool climate and abundant rainfall.
The village, spanning 16.69 km² with a population of 3,972, is led by Nagari Head Franky Putra, S.Pd. Divided into six sub-villages, or “Jorong,” including Lawang Tuo, Batu Basa, Katapiang, Gajah Mati, Pabatuangan, and Buayan.
Lawang is famed for its agricultural practices, with sugar cane being a primary commodity. The community engages in various Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM), producing traditional products like Gula Saka, Gula Semut, and local snacks.
