Matotonan Village, located in South Siberut District, Mentawai Islands Regency, West Sumatra, covers an area of about 35,370 km2. Positioned at a latitude of S010 126′ 30” to S010 33′ 15” South and longitude of E0990 33′ 351” to E990 351′ 00” East, it has an average altitude of 400 meters. In accordance with Regent Regulation No.14 of 2013, Matotonan Village consists of five hamlets: Kinikdok, Ongah, Maruibaga, Mabekbek, and Matektek. The village prioritizes good governance and community empowerment in its development policy, focusing on appropriate financial management and directing efforts towards road access, education, health, and tourism. Recognized as a tourist village in 2021, Matotonan Village attracts visitors with its potential in natural, cultural, and culinary tourism. The annual celebration of the village’s birthday on August 10, known as “liat pullagajat” or community party, involves the active participation of the entire community. Homestays, culinary delights, and locally crafted souvenirs contribute to the village’s appeal.
