Salibutan Lubuk Alung Tourism Village or better known as Nyarai Tourism Village is located in Nagari Salibutan Lubuk Alung, Lubuk Alung District, Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra. This village is located at the foot of the hill of Barisan Satu which is a protected forest location. The area of Nyarai Tourism Village – Salibutan Lubuk alung is 265,337 Ha with 500 Heads of Families. 60% of its area is Community Forest and Protection Forest. The south and west are bordered by Lubuk Alung Village, the north by Pasie Laweh Village, the east by Solok Regency. Nyarai Tourism Village consists of 5 hamlets and 18 RWs. The community’s leading activity here is as a tour guide at Nyarai Ecotourism. A protected forest that has been granted access permits by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry of the Republic of Indonesia through social forestry patterns, covering an area of 2,800 Ha located at an altitude of 250 meters above sea level, was granted management rights permits and management access to villages through LPHN Salibutan Lubuk Alung in 2019.
One of the leading attractions in Nyarai Tourism Village is Nyarai Waterfall and the Nyarai Ecotourism area which is the icon of the village in the Gamaran Forest area, Lubuk Alung District, Padang Pariaman Regency West Sumatra. This area used to be Bukit Barisan 1 Protection Forest and now after obtaining permission from the Ministry of Forestry and Environment to be managed by the Nagari Forest Management Agency (LPHN) Nagari Salibutan, the Sausage Forestry Business Group (KUPS Nyarai) and Pokdarwis Nyarai.
The attraction in Nyarai Forest Gamaran Ecotourism is Nyarai Waterfall with its natural Lubuk or pool. Geologically, the pond in Nyarai is formed naturally with the phenomenon of breccia, which is a whirlpool that erodes the pool wall which makes the pool continue to grow so that a pool is formed naturally. So visitors who visit Nyarai Waterfall include lucky visitors because they witnessed the phenomenon millions of years ago.
In addition to Lubuk Nyarai, Nyarai Tourism Village also has Natural Tourism Attractions such as Belek Waterfall, Lubuk Napa Bath and Lubuak Prohibition (one of the fish conservations .from the Minangkabau community for generations where there is a ban on taking fish in Lubuak before the specified time, if violating it is subject to customary sanctions). Fish taken within a certain time are paid for by fish wholesalers and the proceeds from the sale of the fish are donated to mosques, villages and other social activities.
Cultural Tourism Attractions in Nyari Tourism Village are no less interesting such as Silek and Pasambahan dance. For culinary, Nyarai Tourism Village has typical dishes namely Ikan Panjang and Ikan Gariang ( the result of river catches around Ggararan Forest) which are processed by the community to be served to tourists.
In addition to interest tourism, the advantage of this tourism village is the strength of mothers, or emak-emaknya in making creative products, some creative products that have been produced by mothers in Nyarai Tourism Village are, Asam Kandih, which has been dried and packaged well, and this candih acid has been sold at several super market points in West Sumatra. Products derived from candih acid are also diverse, there are sold in the form of syrup, candy and dishwashers.
For souvenirs that can be brought home by tourists are key chains made of oak or the local language, paniang-paniang fruit and ransam nail bracelets from forest fern plant material that lives in the Gamaran Forest of Nyarai Tourism Village, as well as processed Kandis Acid which grows a lot in Nyarau Tourism Village into syrup and kitchen spices.
