Tiku Beach is one of the charming beaches on the coast of West Sumatra. This beach is precisely located in Nagari Tiku Selatan, Tanjung Mutiara District, Agam Regency. A wide stretch of white sand fenced with rows of shrimp cypresses is the hallmark of this beach. The sea is decorated with calm waves, making it suitable for playing water and relaxing to enjoy the sunset. This beach is in the cape area that juts into the sea. So it has a long curved coastline.
Although located on the west coast, this beach apparently has calm waves. In addition, it also keeps underwater charm in the form of expanses of coral reefs. Besides being spacious, the beach area is quite sloping and beautiful with rows of cypress shrimp that make the atmosphere feel cool. No wonder Pasia Tiku is a beach that is the target of tourists of various ages.
Tourists will have no trouble finding the location of this beach. If you follow the West Cross Road from the direction of Padang City, tourists will arrive at Nagari Tiku Selatan. Simply ask the locals or follow the directions. The access road is simple, not tortuous and in excellent condition.
The expanse of grass with a spread of fir and pine trees is the entrance to the beach. This large area is also a parking lot. There are many stalls and similar street vendors who open stalls here.
After passing a row of shady shrimp cypress trees, a stretch of soft white sand will immediately welcome. The breeze accompanied the rolling waves quietly like ripples. Wherever the eye looks, all that appears is the blue sea and sky.
To enjoy this beauty, visitors can relax on the available chairs. There is also a gazebo for those who want to relax while taking shelter. The quiet beach area is perfect for family picnics, playing sand, and playing waves.
In addition to the beach and sea, it turns out that there are other beauties in South Nagari Tiku. Laguna Tiku located to the north of the beach is the answer. A saltwater lake formed naturally by geological events. The lake is separated only by a narrow stretch of sand.
The lagoon which is also called Muaro Putuih has a special panorama. It has green grass and rows of coconut trees. If you want to find a ‘sunset cinema’ other than the beach, this lagoon deserves to be a destination. In addition, this lake is also a habitat for various types of fish and shellfish. While relaxing, of course, it is more complete if you eat delicious dishes. Being on the beach means it’s time to sample a variety of seafood dishes. The coast of West Sumatra has its own culinary characteristics. At Tiku Beach itself, there are several types of foods and snacks that must be tried.
Tiku Beach is open to tourists every day. If you want to participate in the fish auction, visitors must come since the morning. This beach is crowded with tourists especially on weekends and national holidays.
Langkitang and Pensi are types of shellfish that are widely found in the Laguna Tiku area. This processed shellfish is one of the favorite culinary visitors. In addition to these two, there are still lokan satay, crab, shrimp, to sala bulek. Don’t miss also trying karupuak kuah, crackers doused in satay soup with vermicelli topping.
Tourists can also get the opportunity to eat fresh seafood. Come early in the morning and participate in the fish auction directly from the fishermen who have just returned to sea. After getting the fish you like, take it to the stalls around the beach to cook. The fish are ready to be processed with spices and can be eaten directly with warm rice.
Other tourist spots that are still around the beach are Ujuang and Tangah Islands. These two small islands are located not far from the beach. This island is indirectly a fortress for Pasia Tiku. Both also protect the beach from the ferocity of the Indian Ocean wind.
Ujuang Island and Tangah Island are uninhabited islands. The distance between the two is only about 10 minutes boating. Shrouded in white sand and lush coconut trees. Suitable to be a camping location in the wild.
The sea around the island is dotted with beautiful coral reefs. Natural habitat for diverse types of fish and other marine life. For snorkeling and diving enthusiasts, these two islands are well worth a visit.
