Rimbo Tolang Traditional Forest is one of the educational tourism in Dharmasraya district, precisely in Koto Besar District, Koto Besar Village. Rimbo Tolang is a traditional forest passed down from generation to generation belonging to the Great Koto Kingdom, covering an area of about 18 hectares. Rimbo Tolang is a rimbo ban where residents are prohibited from cutting trees and damaging crops there. There are about 300 species of trees and about 2,700 tree trunks. Among them are rare tree species and some of them only exist in the area. Some of the trees found in the prohibition forest are also affixed with small green zinc named after each tree. The most numerous trees in Rimbo Tolang are kompe trees, the largest of which have a diameter of up to 3 meters. It is said that according to the story, the Rimbo Tolang Traditional Forest is inhabited by urang aluih known as urang Bunian, where they are the guardians of the customary forest. They have an inner connection with the people who inhabit the Great Koto. Every event in Nagari/Village, both large and small, the community will come to Rimbo Tolang to inform and ask for blessings from the residents of the customary forest. This is a form of respect for the people in Nagari/Koto Besar village to our ancestors. Rimbo Tolang has been designated as a customary forest by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry in May 2019. There are several taboos when entering this customary forest, including the prohibition of damaging crops, doing dirty words and deeds, and defecating carelessly.
