Nagari Batukambing is located in Ampek Nagari District, Agam Regency, West Sumatra Province. Nagarai Batukambing has 4 Jorongs namely Jorong Pasar, Jorong Kamparcan, Jorong Alahan Siriah and Jorong Balai Badak.
Nagari Batukambing stretches from West to East at the foot of Mount Lake Maninjau (Bukit Barisan). According to the origin of warih passed down from its predecessor, this nagari was inhabited by humans around the middle of the 17th century AD, around 1650.
The ancestors of the Batukambing people came from Batipuah Pariangan Padang Panjang. The person who first came to Nagari Batukambing was named Inyiak Angku Nan Balidah Sati who came down from Palembayan through Tantaman. Silungkang, Limo Abuang, and Sitalang.
The history of the name Batukambing itself that we received from the story of previous ancestors, there is a large stone located in the middle of the river, namely the confluence of the flow of the Batang Lubuak Kalang and Anak Aia Lubuak Lenggang rivers precisely now located in Jorong Kamparcan. On the big stone often goats play around to leave the impression of goat footprints on the big rock. But strangely the goats are not visible in reality, which is clearly visible only traces.
